In June 2016, WFP Mozambique started remote phone-based data collection using mobile Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (mVAM). Market data is collected from traders via live calls placed by in-house operators. Respondents are asked a short series of questions on the prices of basic food commodities, food availability, and their perception of the food security situation in their community. Data is captured using Open Data Kit (ODK). In May 2017, live calls to households through an external call center were also launched, asking survey respondents to comment on negative coping strategies used, food consumption and the overall food security situation in their communities.
